The online application system is specifically for new prospective students applying to UP for the first time. The current University of Pretoria students should not use this system.

To use the online application system, applicants need the following:

  • Internet access.
  • After submitting the online application, a student ID (EMPLID) will be sent to the provided email address as confirmation of receipt.

Important information about UP online applications:

  • Applications can be submitted at any time, and there are six enrollment periods per year due to UPOnline’s unique program structure.
  • Information requests can be made.
  • If you are deemed eligible based on your initial request, the College will contact you.
  • Access to the University of Pretoria’s online study application system can be obtained by clicking on the link provided in the message. The URL in the message provides a one-time, unique token for your online study application. Copy the link and paste it into your browser’s address bar to access the University of Pretoria’s online application page.

Some additional points to note:

  • Only one online application is required for each program you wish to apply for.
  • It is important to complete all four steps accurately to ensure a successful application launch.
  • Upon processing your online application, you will be assigned an EMPLIID (student identification number).
  • Receiving an EMPLIID does not imply acceptance to the University of Pretoria. Your application will go through the admissions process after evaluation by the relevant faculty.
  • It is recommended to complete your own online application and provide the University of Pretoria with your postal and email addresses for direct communication.

Please note that you cannot submit your application online unless you have completed the following steps:

  • Completed the online application for studies.
  • Uploaded all the required supporting documents in PDF format.
  • Paid the application fee.
  • Confirmed the application by clicking “APPLY.”

Once your application has been successfully submitted:

  • You will not be able to make changes to your application.
  • Your assigned student number (EMPLID) will be sent to you via email.
  • Important instructions on how to check your application progress and results can be found on the student portal.
